Statement of Job:

The University of Maine at Augusta's Nursing Program is seeking applicants for Part-Time Faculty to teach mental health theory, lab, simulation, and/or clinical courses in our BSN pre-licensure program in both traditional and non-traditional clinical formats. Additional courses may be taught depending on the applicant's experience and education.

UMA has a holistic RN-BSN program that has the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC) endorsement and started admitting students to the pre-licensure option concept-based curriculum emphasizing caring science in the Fall of 2019. We seek candidates who demonstrate expertise in evidence-based best practices in teaching nursing, a passion for nursing and teaching, a commitment to supporting diversity and student access, and a desire to join and collaborate with the program faculty to implement these practices.

Salary: The salary for part-time faculty is per credit hour and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Current unencumbered licensure as an RN in the State of Maine, or eligibility for Maine licensure

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing

  • A Master's degree or higher is needed to teach the theory portion of any course.

  • Clinical practice within the past five years in mental health

  • Strong desire to support student learning in the m environment and experiences

  • Teaching that includes the use of new technologies and delivery systems; experience teaching students at a distance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or higher in Nursing

  • Three or more years of teaching at the college level

  • National certification as an Advanced Holistic Nurse (AHNCC)

  • Teaching experience within a concept-based curriculum with an emphasis on caring science

  • Experience teaching in simulation
