Part-Time Instructor of Music: Jazz

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

An earned masters degree in Music

Position open until filled. Review of applications will begin on April 8th. Responsibilities

  • Develop and direct curricular jazz ensemble(s) within the context of a music program with historic instrumental enrollment emphases in strings, voice, piano and guitar

  • Teach regularly in at least one area of the greater Music and/or Music Education curricula in addition to jazz offerings

  • Actively participate in recruitment of students to the Music and Music Education majors

Required Qualifications

  • An earned master's degree in Music

  • Successful jazz ensemble directing and music teaching experience

  • At least one of the qualifications listed below under ¿Desired Qualifications¿

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to teach Music Education methods courses in either Woodwinds or Percussion

  • Ability to teach courses in music technology and other areas in an interdisciplinary departmental concentration in audio production/music business

  • Ability to teach applied lessons in both classical and jazz styles and recruit a studio in one of the following areas: single reeds, brass, percussion, guitar

  • Ability to teach other courses integral to the Music and/or Music Education majors
