Job Description:

An introductory level course teaching foundations of entrepreneurship to undergraduate students from a wide array of backgrounds, disciplines, majors. Responsibilities include teaching 3 undergraduate classes in the fall semester, preparing for class, grading, and holding office hours for students in your class. In addition to experience founding a business, a qualified candidate should have evidence of a commitment to Inclusive Excellence. Trinity University is seeking a part time faculty member for the Fall 2024 semester to teach ENTR 2111 and 2112 - Intro to Entrepreneurship 1 and 2 respectively course(s).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical responsibilities of part-time faculty members include but not limited to:

  • Teaching:

  • Developing the course syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets departmental and University standards

  • Instruct the introductory class, utilizing activities and various modes of learning.

  • Designing and delivering lectures, discussions, in-class activities, and assignments using the Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) framework

  • Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams: Assigning early, midterm, and final grades in compliance with University deadlines

  • Adhering to all instructional policies as published in the Faculty Handbook and the Courses of Study Bulletin

  • Making student accommodations as determined by the Office of Student Accessibility Services

  • Ensure a diverse pool of speakers for any speaking engagements held for student and alumni benefit. Share planned guest speakers to the Program Team, discussing objectives and goals for various guests

  • Attend department meetings throughout the year, work toward goals set by the Center, and supply requested course materials.

  • Demonstrate collegiality, respect, and empathy for diverse stakeholders.

APPOINTMENT DETAILS

This is an in-person position. Expected time commitment of 18 hours a week. Position may be renewed pending satisfactory job performance, and department needs.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Master's degree

EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 10 or more years of leadership experience in a small or medium-sized business environment

Preferred

  • Experience founding a venture - regardless of a current endeavor or a past endeavor with an exit.

  • Experience mentoring/coaching entrepreneurs

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to deliver engaging lectures, discussions, or in-class activities

  • Ability to design rigorous and meaningful assignments

  • Ability to demonstrate intellectual curiosity

  • Ability to respond well to feedback

  • Ability to inspire and guide undergraduate students with interests in a wide range of industries

  • Ability to work with computer and software programs - Google Suite, email, calendar, etc.

  • Ability to learn new software programs required for working in higher ed. ie. learning management platforms and grading tools.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of non-profit, social, and/or environmental entrepreneurship

  • Strong communication skills
