Part-Time Facilities Worker


  • Serve the campus community in the capacity determined by the Director of Operations. Responsibilities could include:

  • General Maintenance

  • Diagnose and perform routine repairs to campus facilities

  • Assist with set up and tear down of special events

  • Assist with department moves

  • Perform Other Related Duties as Assigned


Reports to the Director of Operations


High School Diploma


  • Perform any activity needed to set up or tear down special events and department moves; this includes the handling of materials, large and small

  • Assist with campus deliveries

  • Perform basic maintenance/repair work as assigned (i.e., drywall repair, painting, basic plumbing, hanging pictures/shelving, framing, etc.)

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions

Hot and Cold

  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting heavy objects up to 75lb.

  • Attentive to detail, a self-starter, and ability to work without close supervision.

  • Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and the general public.


  • Supervise and direct student worker pool as necessary.


According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


  • 2 years of relative experience in a building maintenance related field

Required Skills:

  • Ability to lift seventy-five (75) pounds

  • Ability to operate forklift or become a certified forklift operator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Greet members, prospective members and guests, providing exceptional customer service. * Handle all front desk related activities including: * Answer phones in a friendly manner and assist callers with a variety of questions. * Check members into the system. * New member sign-up. * Take prospective members on tours. * Facilitate needed updates to member's accounts. * Respond to member questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner and elevate to Assistant Manager or Manager as needed. * Assist in maintaining the neatness and cleanliness of the club. * Close shift for that business day. * Create a bank deposit for next day. Qualifications/Requirements * Customer service background preferred. * Basic computer proficiency. * A passion for fitness and health. * Upbeat and positive attitude! * Punctuality and reliability is a must. * Exceptional customer service skills; able to interact in a positive and professional way with members and co-workers, exceeding the member's expectations. * Strong listener with the ability to empathize and problem solve. * Demonstrate diplomacy in all interactions while using appropriate behavior and language. * High School diploma/GED equivalent required. * Must be 18 years of age or older. Physical Demands * Continual standing and walking during shift. * Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift. * Ability to work 3rd shift (overnights). * Must be able to occassionally lift up to 50 lbs. * Will occasionally encounter toxic chemicals during shift.
