Emerson is a clinical and aging program that embodies the nature of providing clinical, hands-on support to people with varying levels of medical needs, and those who may require a high level of intimate care. Intimate care consists of assisting with showering; assisting with toileting; helping with grooming and personal hygiene; assisting with hands-on feeding ); and several other activities related to the care needs of the people who live in the program. The job includes supporting people with conditions such as functional impairment and dementia; people who use oxygen tanks; and people who may frequent trips to the hospital for both emergency and routine services. There is an expectation for employees to administer medication both as needed and on a regular basis, after becoming certified to do so.

Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
Key Responsibilities:
Adhering to policies, procedures and regulations
Using effective communication skills & time management skills
Being a member of a highly effective team (Teamwork within the circle of support)
Completing mandatory trainings based on the program and position (AMAP, CPR/First Aid, SCIP-R, Defensive Driving, etc.), as well as applying skills
Ensuring health, wellness and safety by managing crisis situations and providing appropriate supervision of the people we support
Demonstrating a willingness to assist people with ADLs
Transporting and escorting people we support on recreational activities, medical appointment, home visits, etc.
Building Positive relationships
Maintaining a therapeutic environment through a variety of methods: Personal Outcome Measures, Person Centered Thinking, Informed Decision Making
Ensuring person centered plans are implemented
Completing documentation to ensure compliance and billing
Using foundational Teaching skills (EMOE, Task analysis, essential skills, supports and modifications, etc.
Education & Experience:
A High School Diploma or GED is required; some college is a plus
A valid Driver's License with no more than 5 points is required
Work or life experience with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred
Ability to participate in 2 days of NJS Mandated DDD initial trainings during normal business hours upon hire
Tuberculosis test required for most positions
New Jersey State drug test screening is mandatory
