Under limited supervision performs work of routine difficulty in the cleaning and maintenance of County facilities; performs related work as assigned.
Typical Duties

Cleans and maintains County facilities
Identifies and reports repair needs and performs minor repairs
May assist with special events
Essential functions of this position include: driving; standing, lifting, crouching, reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, pushing, pulling, walking with in facility to clean and stock supplies, etc; working around other staff; working alone to do paperwork, scrubbing, pushing mops, dumping wastebaskets, etc; reading labels and warnings on chemicals, ability to communicate both written and verbally with staff and co-workers; must be able to lift 60 pounds; must be able to safely use ladders up to 12 feet in height.
Environmental conditions include: noise and vibrations from vacuums, floor equipment, lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc; hazards from mechanical or electrical; exposure to chemicals; atmospheric conditions-fumes, odors, dust, mist and gases; working in extreme or adverse weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of custodial experience; OR any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must submit to a background search and successfully pass polygraph examination. Must not have a felony conviction within previous ten years or dishonorable discharge from the military. Must not have a misdemeanor conviction involving domestic violence within previous five years. Must not have used dangerous or narcotic drugs in the past five years for more than experimentation.
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications:custodial experience and ability to work various shifts including second shift, some weekends and holidays as needed.
This is position is non-exempt from overtime.
This position is safety sensitive.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of:
Materials, equipment, and procedures used in custodial work
Occupational hazards and procedures for storing and handling hazardous materials
Ability to:
Operate a variety of custodial and maintenance equipment
Maintain a safe workplace
Effectively handle lifting of objects weighing up to 60 pounds
Prepare and maintain records and reports Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
Work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public
Follow written and verbal instructions
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
