General Summary & Essential Responsibilities
Performs manual work loading, unloading and transporting library materials and mail between County libraries and facilities in a County vehicle. Library materials include books, movies and other items in the library collections. May also transport small equipment and other supplies, as well as perform light to medium manual labor associated with routine operations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Loads, unloads and transports library materials per an established schedule; drives County vehicle.
Picks up and delivers mail and other documents and packages at libraries, other department locations and County post office.
Maintains County vehicle by keeping it clean and arranging for service as required and necessary.
Prepares and maintains routine reports and records pertaining to vehicle maintenance, timesheets, and other reports as required.
Performs general, light to medium manual labor of a routine nature assisting other library staff with relocating materials, recycling functions, and other duties associated with standard library operations.
Provide exceptional customer assistance, problem-solving, and/or complaints by all forms of communication.
Min. Education, Licenses and Certifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED.
Six (6) months of previous work experience.
Or an equivalent combination of relevant training, education, and experience.
Licenses and/or Certificates:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
Ability to make recommendations and to use resourcefulness and tact in solving new problems.
Ability to ascertain priorities and meet deadlines and objectives.
Good written and oral communication skills; ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to manage time and adhere to a schedule.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to provide internal/external guidance and customer assistance via all forms of communication.
Supplemental Information
Working Conditions:Work is performed indoors and outdoors; constant lifting and pushing; potential exposure to temperature changes and inclement weather.
Risk/Safety Conditions:The position requires some exposure to risk related to physical and/or mental health and safety (e.g., exposure to environmentally hazardous material, heavy equipment, assault and battery, communicable disease, vehicular traffic, etc.).
Physical Activities:Pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, walking, sitting, speaking, hearing, reading, writing, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, and driving.Frequent lifting of 10 to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
