JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Earn $12/hour! The Community Service Federal Work-Study Program (CSFWS) is seeking applicants to join our program for the 2021/2022 Academic Year.

CSFWS is a community service/service-learning program providing employment opportunities to eligible undergraduate and graduate students at local nonprofit, government, and community-based organizations surrounding the Penn State's University Park Campus.

Positions with CSFWS require the acquisition of the Three-Public Clearances for Employment.

Students who received a Federal Work Study award have the opportunity to obtain a job and perform related duties either on campus, or remotely, if possible and at the discretion of the employer. Students applying for Federal Work Study positions should clarify expectations with their potential employer regarding either on campus/in person or remote work arrangements. A Federal Work Study award does not guarantee a job position is available.

This job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances:

  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
  • FBI Criminal Background Check.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Part-time Laboratory Assistant- Federal Work Study ~15 hrs. per week / max. 20 hrs. per week; $9.50 / hr (up to a maximum of $1,750 total compensation). Location: University Park The Muscle Function and Locomotion Group within Penn States' Biomechanics Laboratory is seeking a dedicated part-time laboratory assistant, under a Federal Work Study, to support ongoing research projects and routine laboratory management. The primary focus of the lab member will be to assist on an animal-based experimental protocol. Duties will include animal monitoring, basic experimental assistance, and supply ordering, among others. The lab member may also interact on human-based research projects. The applicant does not require prior animal or human research work but must be comfortable interacting with animals in research. The applicant will be required to undertake the required institutional training (IACUC, EHS, etc.) prior to working on research protocols.
