Job Description:

STCC's Student Initiatives Department is currently seeking a part-time clerical position. This position serves as a member of the Student Initiatives team, including the Male Initiative for Leadership and Educant program (MILE) and the Lead:

Female Leadership and Mentoring Program, which both seek to improve access, retention, and completion of underrepresented students at STCC. The role focuses on general office support and enrollment, as well as advising and registration functions. The person in this role will assist with the daily activities and the smooth operations of the programs, including general office filing, record management, outreach, and customer service functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the daily operations of student initiatives signature programs, including scheduling appointments, data entry, greeting office visitors, answering phones, utilizing live chat, maintaining office calendars and contact lists, and other clerical functions.

  • Provide excellent customer service at all times.

  • Maintain and edit shared documents for enrollment and advising outreach.

  • Maintain confidentiality and strict adherence to FERPA regulations.

  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages and promotes diversity and inclusion.

  • Demonstrates 100% time-on-task; adheres to college and routine office procedures, as well as regulations.

  • Participate in college, division, and department meetings, events, and training as recommended and approved by the supervisor.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities, college committees, work groups and task forces, and other professional organizations as approved by the supervisor.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those listed above which do not alter the basic level of the position.

  • Assist in the daily operations of student initiatives signature programs, including scheduling appointments, data entry, greeting office visitors, answering phones, utilizing live chat, maintaining office calendars and contact lists, and other clerical functions.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree required, or equivalent education and experience; Three years or more experience in a busy office environment.

  • Experience using and comfort with technology (Microsoft Office Suite, Google G-Suite, etc.), as well as the ability and willingness to learn new computer-based programs.

  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals and be perceptive and understanding of student concerns.

  • Must be team-oriented, energetic, and detail-oriented.

  • Must possess strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Must possess strong customer service skills.

  • Bilingual preferred but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Works in an office setting. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The individual needs to move about inside the office to access office machinery. Constantly operates a computer and other equipment i.e. copier.

This person frequently communicates with students, faculty and staff. Must be able to exchange accurate information.

Additional Information:

Salary: $16.50 per hour

Work Schedule: On Campus position, Part Time, 18 hours per week
