JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Center for the Performing Arts (CPA) in the College of Arts and Architecture (University Park, PA) is looking for two Arts Engagement Assistants to join our Engagement Team to select artists that will engage and entertain their peers, promote events, support engagement activities, and co-facilitate the CPA Student Advisory Council. The successful candidates will be supervised by the Student Arts Engagement Manager and work alongside the CPA departments to curate and promote performances and artistic engagement events that build a culture of creativity and belonging through transformative arts and culture experiences.

  • Please note that this position will start later in Spring 2024 semester and continue remotely through the summer and back to hybrid for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.

Job Duties

  • Co-facilitate the CPA Student Advisory Council meetings.

  • Research and identify artists for inclusion in the Center for the Performing Arts schedule of performances.

  • Curate and organize engaging artistic events for students across campus.

  • Assist in promoting and covering CPA performances and engagement events. Completed work is shared with a vast and diverse audience through a variety of channels, including but not limited to print materials, website, and social media platforms.

  • Collect and analyze data to assess effectiveness of marketing efforts.

  • The successful candidate will develop skills in research, writing, interviewing, and events programming and promotion.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications

  • Current Penn State Student.

  • Passion for the Arts.

  • Commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.

  • Experience using Office 365.

  • Additionally, candidates should have strong communication skills and a willingness to work with peers and staff to effectively build community through the arts.

The selected candidates will work alongside seasoned professionals, developing successful candidates' capacity for leadership and gaining meaningful work experiences to document on a resume and in a professional portfolio.
