Lanier Technical College - Adult Education Department; is conducting a search for the following part-time, non-benefits eligible, FLSA-exempt position. POSITION: PART-TIME ADULT EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR - various campus locations

REPORTS TO: Adult Education Instructor

HOURLY RATE: $18.50 per hour; 6 hours per week

EFFECTIVE: Positions are available now and throughout the year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general supervision, is responsible for classroom instruction and evaluating students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. This position is a temporary teaching position and is based on student enrollment each term. It does not include any benefits or a promise of future full-time employment. Positions available in GED/HiSET Preparation and/or ESL/ELA instruction.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Teach basic math, science, social studies, reading, language arts, and soft skills to adult education students.

  • Preparation of lesson plans and counseling notes for classroom instruction

  • Evaluation of students' progress in attaining goals and objectives

Participates in staff development and staff meetings as required

Assists with post-testing, as needed

  • Follow curriculum and College and Career Readiness Standards (training provided)

  • Complete reports accurately and timely

  • Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere in the classroom

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Education or closely related field from an accredited College or University

COMPETENCIES:

  • Skill in the use of computers and job related software, including GALIS

  • Skill in oral and written communication

  • Skill in interpersonal relations

  • Ability to adapt instructional material to fit all learning styles

  • Ability to maintain accurate records

  • Knowledge of effective instructional methods for adult learners

  • Knowledge of community needs within Service Delivery Area

POSITION: ADJUNCT ENGLISH INSTRUCTOR - Different Campus Locations Available REPORTS TO: General Education Program Chair SALARY: Targeted salary is paid in a lump sum based on contact hours RESPONSIBILITIES: Adjunct faculty responsibilities are centered on preparing and teaching classes as assigned: * Provides professional instruction based on approved course syllabus. Ensures that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives; * Prepares curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught; * Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives; * Administers and grades class examinations; * Maintains records of student grades; * Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars, as needed; * Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training areas; * Meets ALL required deadlines; Completes ALL required employee training; * Meets with students, staff members, supervisors as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with 18 graduate semester hours in English.
