Job Description:

Saint Michael's College is seeking applications from dependable, efficient, workers to fill a day shift custodial position. The shift is: Saturday & Sunday (6:00am - 2:30pm). Successful candidates will join a team which cleans College buildings including dormitories, restrooms, offices and classrooms. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

Benefits: Eligible for paid-time-off accrual as outlined in the employee handbook. This hourly, part-time position is not eligible for regular College provided fringe benefits.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently

  • Must be able to follow both written and oral instructions

  • Must have physical ability to do heavy custodial work, lift 26-50 pounds and be able to climb a stepladder approximately 10 feet

  • Knowledge of floor care, carpet cleaning, cleaning chemicals and custodial equipment preferred

  • Basic computer skills or a willingness to learn basic computer skills preferred

  • Valid driver's license preferred (Please note: for valid driver's license applicant must be able to successfully pass driving record check. For criteria please see the Driver Acceptability Matrix.

This National Guard position is for a State Construction & Facilities Management Officer, Position Description Number D1121000 and is part of the Construction & Facilities Management Officer of the Vermont Army National Guard. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities (1) Serves as principal advisor to the J4, Chief of Joint Staff, and Adjutant General on all aspects of State ARNG construction, facilities management, environmental, and other associated programs. Maintains contacts with other agencies (EPA, OSHA, Army Corps of Engineers, and business entities), with US Senators and staff, US Congressional representatives and staff and with the Governor and their staff. a. Establishes local program policies/procedures; establishes/monitors internal program controls; and ensures uniform application/compliance with federal, state, and local law, ARNG policies, procedures and guidelines, and professional engineering and construction codes/practices. b. Develops long and short range plans, including the ARNG facilities Long Range 25 year Master Plans and multi-million dollar Long Range Construction Plan (LRCP), considering operational trends, forecasting requirements, and source/proportional allocation of funds, manpower, equipment, and materiel. c. Makes decisions/commitments related to technical, administrative, and program management issues, such as, contracting out or performing work in-house; prioritizing new construction and/or maintenance projects. (2) Directs program/project activities through a subordinate supervisory staff and a work force consisting of federal, state, and other full and part time employees, including a multitude of technical experts such as professional architects, engineers, engineering technicians, environmentalists, and skilled craftspeople. (3) Performs or directs performance of the following programs/activities: a. Architectural & Engineering Activities: Prepares in-house and/or contracted architectural and engineering master plans, construction/maintenance project plans, and specifications and bidding documents. b. Environmental Program: Ensures identification, analyses, control and legal/regulatory compliance related to construction design; management of hazardous/toxic spills and hazardous waste materials; ecological use of training areas; water resource management; noise and air pollution abatement; underground storage tank management; asbestos identification and elimination; protection of threatened/endangered species; historical and archaeological and preservation management. (4) Provides community outreach and represents the Adjutant General, the National Guard and the government at local community meetings for noise or future development issues.
