Overview
Maintaining nearly 15,000 acres, the Orange County Parks and Recreation Division operates 109 parks, trails, boat ramps and facilities, including 14 recreation centers. In addition, our parks provide space for citizens, families, and visitors to enjoy and explore the beautiful outdoors, and to participate in activities ranging from camping, fishing, youth and adult sports, senior activities, youth enrichment programs, and picnics. Orange County Parks and Recreation also offers state-of-the-art fitness centers, as well as arts, culture and education programs, and a full calendar of year-round special events.
Representative Duties
This position performs work in maintaining, repairing, and installing irrigation systems throughout the Parks & Recreation Division. This position may also assist in other projects within the Operation Support Section as directed. Direction is received from the Parks Technician II or other assigned supervisor.
Performs repairs to irrigations systems including leaking and broken lines, cut and damaged wires, valves, valve boxes and tracking and locating equipment.
Assists with preventative maintenace inspections of irrigation systems.
Keeps assigned vehicle stocked with needed irrigation parts and tools and keeps trenching and digging equipment cleaned and serviced.
Assists in other related areas when needed including cleaning and servicing unmanned sites, boat ramps and the support facility.
Instructs staff in proper techniques and use of tracking/locating equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of experience in grounds and building maintenance and repair.
