Description

Under general supervision, the Parks & Recreation Associate performs a wide range of specialized support tasks for events and programs offered by the Department. This role involves diverse responsibilities including scheduling, activity setup and oversight, participant supervision, information provision, record-keeping, event coordination, and equipment/facility maintenance in our E-Sports area. The incumbent is also accountable for managing supply requisitions, tracking fees from program participants, and providing leadership and training to new staff members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and coordinate events and program activities efficiently.

  • Set up and oversee various activities, ensuring smooth operation.

  • Supervise participants during activities, maintaining a safe and engaging environment.

  • Provide information and assistance to participants regarding program details and activities.

  • Maintain accurate records related to program participation, activities, and resources.

  • Assist in the implementation of special events and programs, ensuring their success.

  • Clean and maintain equipment and facilities to ensure they are in good working condition.

  • Prepare and submit supply requisitions as needed for program operations.

  • Maintain accurate accounting of fees collected from program participants.

  • Provide leadership and training to new staff members, ensuring effective onboarding and skill development.

This is a part-time position that does not exceed an average of 29 hours per week.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications

  • Education, experience, and training that are required or desirable in order to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.
  • Minimum of two years of prior relevant experience required.

  • Previous experience in administering recreational programs and/or participation in competitive sports is desired.

  • First Aid CPR certifications required or must be obtained within 90 days from date of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and methods used in various recreational activities in assigned area of responsibility.

  • Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment; modern office equipment including a computer and applicable software.

  • Knowledge methods and techniques for record keeping and report preparation and writing.

  • Ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Ability to complete routine, non-routine, and sometimes complex tasks in a timely manner, following through on processes from end-to-end.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in writing, and in person.

  • Ability to use good judgment and think rationally in difficult or stressful situations.

  • Ability to develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work, as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in the use of basic business software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentations) and basic office equipment.

  • Ability to work under little supervision and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty. Job requires being reliable, responsible and dependable.
