Position Description
What you will do for
Harris County Precinct 2
The Park Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily work assignments and supervising in areas related to maintenance in Harris County Precinct 2 parks. The position supervises and oversees park operations, maintenance programs and management of staff. It enforces park rules, assists visitors and resolves conflicts among visitors and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, coordinates, and performs administrative duties and assigns daily work schedules for park crew
Performs administrative duties, in conjunction with the Zone Manager pertaining to employees, including interviewing, hiring, firing, discipline, time posting, accident reports, etc.
Regularly inspects worksites for work performed and to identify any maintenance or improvement needs
Investigates citizen's requests and assists in finding solutions.
Interacts with constitutes, government agencies and staff members to coordinate and solve issues
Maintains inventory to ensure that adequate materials, supplies, and tools are available
Inspects equipment to verify that no hazardous conditions exist and to determine maintenance needs
Trains employees on use of all equipment and tools utilized in parks maintenance

Requirements
Education:
Experience:
Four (4) years of parks maintenance experience
Two (2) years ofsupervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in ground maintenance, facility maintenance, and landscape maintenance.
Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of and proficiency in use of various types of maintenance/construction equipment and vehicles.
Knowledge of records and schedules for work procedures.
Skill in both job/task leadership and personnel leadership.
Ability to communicate using 2-way radios, cell phones, telephones, or other communication devices.
Ability to work a flexible schedule for on-call and emergency situations.
Ability to display positive public relations with the public and employees.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to assist and lead activities in the absence of supervisor.
Skill in the use of hand tools (e.g., rakes, shovels, hammers, pliers, loppers, post hole digger, auger, etc.) and power equipment (e. g., chain saws, weed eater, blowers, power washers, nail guns, mowers, drills, grinders, saws, etc.).
Skill in the operation of equipment (e. g., tractor with front end loader, box blade, shredder, ATV, golf cart, etc.)

Our parks are open 365 days of the year. The Parks Department works 4-10 hour shifts. Hours/days may vary based on business needs of the department and some weekend, evening hours or holidays will be required during special events or in times of emergency response/preparedness.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Work is performed where extreme temperatures, caustic substances, physical hazards, respiratory hazards, humidity, noise, vibrations, and other hazards may be encountered.
The work is medium and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
