Republic is currently looking for a full-time Parking Enforcement Ambassador to work at our Ferndale, MI location.

The Parking Enforcement Ambassador position is responsible for patrolling public parking areas to enhance customers' experience with parking in Downtown Ferndale. This position requires excellent customer service skills, and is responsible for attending and maintaining parking equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service while attending to and maintain parking equipment and performing parking enforcement

  • Perform some maintenance on parking equipment

  • Assist customers with pay machines

  • Respond to and completes repairs of pay machines and parking meters

  • Perform traffic direction on and around parking lots, particularly during high-traffic periods and events

  • Patrol (either on foot or in motorized vehicle) all metered, monthly and some residential parking areas.

  • Utilize handheld ticket writers or License Plate Recognition parking enforcement system to issue citations for over-time and other parking violations in accordance with local and state law.

  • Practice good public relations with customers and visitors by answering questions and providing general information about the downtown district of Ferndale, MI, parking services, and traffic regulations.

  • Work with the district court staff and police department to coordinate parking enforcement process. May include court appearances as a witness on contested citations.

  • Participate in lot maintenance and snow abatement activities when necessary

Requirements

  • Excellent Customer Service and effective Communication Skills

  • Valid Michigan License

  • Willing to gain understanding and develop practical knowledge of new parking technologies being utilized by downtown, such as Digital "Luke" Pay Stations and various types of enforcement equipment.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to stand and walk outdoors (in all types of weather) for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to work under general supervision, exercising judgment in interpersonal communication, scheduling and following patrol routes as determined by business needs and management.

  • Strong verbal and written, and electronic communication skills: in-person, handwritten, phone, text, email.

  • Ability to work cooperatively, communicate effectively, and to maintain effective internal and external customer relations to accomplish job responsibilities.

  • Ability to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology; Ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.

  • Sufficient manual dexterity which permits the employee to operate equipment and tools.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. As directed by Republic Parking Management, must participate in lot maintenance and snow abatement activities when needed.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment screening, including a background check

  • Dependable transportation to work location

  • Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude

  • Knowledge of/Familiarity with geography of Ferndale, MI

  • Proficiency in operating the following EQUIPMENT and tools: personal computer with Windows based applications, handheld computer ticket writers, two-way radio

  • Skill in typing at moderate speed and high accuracy preferred.

The Security Site Supervisor will supervise and coordinate the delivery of quality services to an assigned customer. Act as a liaison between customer, Operation Manager and security officers. Supervise site staff, providing coaching, recognition and discipline within approved empowerment range.
