The Olney Manor Management Area contains 44 parks, stream valley units and conservation areas, 50athletic fields, 50 tennis courts, and 36 playgrounds. Under the supervision of a Park Leader, this role performs a wide variety of professional park operations within the Olney Manor Management Area. The selected candidate will assist with diverse park operations and programs within the management area to provide a secure, safe and enjoyable park experience for the public.

The successful candidate will perform a variety of general park maintenance tasks such as playground repairs,?grass cutting, trash removal, athletic field renovation and maintenance, trail maintenance, cleaning and repairing park buildings and structures by working with and occasionally leading teams of career and/or intermittent employees.? The ideal candidate should possess skills to operate trucks, tractors with attachments, large riding mowers, loaders, and forklifts. Trade skills in carpentry and painting is a plus. Examples of Important Duties

  • Operating vehicles and equipment including riding mowers, tractors with attachments, trucks, front-end loaders, backhoe.

  • Landscaping duties include spreading grass seed, lime, fertilizer, and topdressing on fields by operating tractor with attachments. Also, includes planting, trimming, and pruning trees and shrubs.

  • Performs maintenance and installation of park fixtures and furnishings.

  • Athletic field maintenance includes operating tractor w/ attachment to rake, drag and grade fields. Also sprays pesticides.

  • Track and record daily work assignments for EAM. Maintain logbook daily and keep supervisor up to date on assigned work tasks

  • Responds to emergencies and inclement weather conditions such as hurricanes, blizzards, and earthquakes.

  • General custodial duties including trash and recycling collection, meeting room set-ups, relocation of equipment and furniture, mopping, sweeping, stripping, and refinishing floors along withgeneral repairs.

  • Performs assignments as part of a group but may occasionally work alone.

Working Conditions:

  • Incumbent primarily works outside.

  • Exposure to various elements and all types of weather conditions, waste, caustic chemicals, pesticides, wildlife and potentially harmful insects.

  • Work requires constant bending, lifting, and carrying of heavy objects of up to 100 pounds.

  • An essential employee for on-call 24 hours for emergencies.

  • Must be available to work weekends and evenings as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

1.Pass Commission medical examination.

2.Two years of experience in grounds keeping, building maintenance, or park maintenance;

3.Ability to read and write.

4.Valid driver's license.
