Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in the operation and / or maintenance of a park, historic site, golf course, or recreational facility. In addition to operations and maintenance, the following types of experience are also qualifying: law enforcement or security, firefighting, environmental education, environmental stewardship, natural resource management, forest management, wildlife management or preservation, or historic preservation or interpretation; OR
One year of military service in any of the military branches; OR
An Associate's or higher-level degree, or 60 credit hours of college level coursework; OR
Completion of an appropriate two-year technical / trades school program or two years' experience as a trades assistant under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson.
If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience.
Duties Description The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Allegany State Park Quaker Run Area Park Manager or their designee, and will be responsible for the supervision, training, and scheduling of the Quaker Rental Office staff. Other duties include, but are not limited to:
Supervise the Quaker Rental Office including Bradford, Cain Hollow and Quaker tollbooths.
Provide daily and weekly attendance and revenue reports.
Register campers using a computer based registration system (AspiraOne).
Represent the agency, region, and park in a positive and friendly manner while executing operational assignments.
Cash handling and operation of cash registers and credit card terminals, operation of iPhone and/or iPad for Empire Pass sales and validations.
Train permanent and seasonal staff with emphasis on customer service and use of AspiraOne software.
Develop schedules for permanent and seasonal staff.
Maintain full compliance with established internal control procedures.
Answering the telephone and in-person patron questions or directing calls to the appropriate recipient, providing clear and accurate information to all customers, and maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor under demanding conditions.
Assist patrons with permit applications and in scheduling weddings.
Prepare bank deposits and weekly/monthly revenue and attendance reports.
Prepare patron refund paperwork in a timely fashion.
Develop forms, flyers, graphs, charts, tables, etc. using Microsoft Office Suite software.
Represent assigned department at weekly crew leader meetings.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEED:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
Must be proficient in the use of computers to facilitate proper use of associated online applications and programs, and be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Must be able to continuously maintain a neat and professional appearance and project a positive and welcoming demeanor in the presence of the public.
Must be available to work a variable schedule, including evenings, holidays and weekends as needed.
Must be reliable, flexible, and willing to work in a team setting.
