The City of Gainesville's Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Department currently has an opening for a Full Time Temporary Parks Maintenance Worker I to provide support to our Parks and Recreation team.
To qualify for this position you must:
Successfully completed eighth grade
Have six months experience in laboring work, professional landscaping or park maintenance, including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance, repair, or construction work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Have a valid Florida driver license
A typical workday may include operating equipment used in landscape maintenance; general maintenance of park facilities including restroom maintenance, cleaning, trash pickup and minor repairs and assisting other Park Operations staff in performing routine maintenance in City Parks.
This is a 40 hour per week position. Work is varied in nature and requires skills in customer service, organization and record keeping.
While performing the duties of this job, work may require performance of tasks outdoors under varying climatic conditions.

NATURE OF WORK
This is paraprofessional work performing varied technical duties.
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and two years of college level courses, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, ability, and skills.
Computer software skills may be required as specified by the department. Typing at a speed acceptable to department needs may be required. Work may require performance of tasks outdoors under varying climatic conditions.
WORK EXAMPLES (depending on area of assignment):
Complies, tracks, works with and maintains information.
Prepares reports and maintains records of work performed.
Assists in resolution of routine requests, queries and problems.
Uses AutoCad for development and preparation of drawings and/or maps.
Assists PC users with routine technical problems
Assists in field studies, information gathering and organization.
Assists with monitoring and maintaining of broadcast equipment.
Assists in inspection of equipment and/or facilities.
