Our Parks and Recreation Department maintains a large, diverse park system made up of 54 parks, 33 playgrounds, sports fields, and boat docks. Our Urban Forestry Division also performs all phases of tree care. This is a seasonal position that could work up to 40 hours per week with a maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year (July 1- June 30). The season depends on the weather and workload, generally early spring to late fall.Temporary and part-time employees are at-will and not covered by the Civil Service System. Some benefits for temporary employees include sick leave, temporary employee retirement plan, and 3.5% bilingual pay if applicable.

TYPICAL TASKS

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assisting with playground maintenance.

  • Preparing ball fields.

  • Pruning trees, shrubs, and plants.

  • Blowing pathways.

  • Picnic site and restroom maintenance.

  • Operate edgers, string trimmers, blowers, and hedgers.

  • Watering trees and flowers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of California Class "C" Driver's license and a good driving record is required.

Ability to lift up to 50lbs; Ability, coordination, and stamina to perform the required duties.
