Park Maintenance Assistant

The City of Valdez Parks Maintenance Department is hiring a summer crew!

The City of Valdez Parks Maintenance Department is accepting applications for Parks Maintenance Assistants. Under supervision of a Parks Maintenance Technician, these positions perform general maintenance of parks, trails, and related facilities.

Rate of pay begins at $20.28 per hours. This is a temporary non-benefited position that is estimated to work May 1 through September 30, working 37.5 hours per week.

Knowledge, skills, and other characteristics:

• Must be able to follow directions and work without direct supervision.

• Must be able to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools.

• Must be able to frequently lift over 50 pounds.

• Must be able to hike up to 4 miles per day.

• Must have skills using hand and power tools.

• Must be able to hook up, drive and back up a trailer.

• Must have skills in ATV operations and maintenance.

• Must be able to use carpentry tools and saws safely and proficiently.

Minimum qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Must have valid driver's license.

• Must have clean driving record within the past 5 years, will be required to undergo driving history.

Position is open until filled, review of applications is continual. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• General maintenance of parks, trails and related facilities.

Physical requirements and work environment:

• Position runs approximately 10-17 weeks, full time temporary.

• Predominate amount of work is performed outdoors.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Must have valid driver's license.

• Must have clean driving record within the past 5 years, will be required to undergo driving history.
