The Position

Park Interpreters plan, organize, provide and supervise a variety of interpretive facilities, services and activities and assist in the operation and maintenance of an assigned State park.

Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

This position is located at Ice Age Fossils State Park in North Las Vegas, Nevada. The 315 acre park is renowned for the paleontologically rich fossil deposits and historic excavation sites.

The park is adjacent to the 22,000 acre Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument. The park is in the planning stages but will include a modern visitor center and interpretive hiking trails.Candidates work under general supervision of the Park Supervisor in all aspects of park operations including visitor services, interpretation, content development, custodial services, building and grounds maintenance, fee collection, gift store operations, museum operations, and volunteer management.This position is responsible for developing and implementing interpretive programs, managing and curating historic and paleontological items, and developing content for the park visitor center. This position is responsible for community outreach and educational programs to local schools and community groups, developing media, interpretive signage, exhibits, audiovisual programs, and online media presence.

This position recruits, trains, and supervises park volunteers and subordinate seasonal staff.Park Interpreters work variable hours and shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays and must be available to work special events and respond to callouts or emergencies. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major or minor in park management, outdoor recreation management, history/folklore, education, ecology, forestry, biology, agriculture, natural or environmental sciences, horticulture, wildlife management, museum management, business or public administration or related field and one year of professional park experience which included developing, managing and presenting interpretive and/or educational activities; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Positions may be subject to call back and work various hours and/or shifts.

Special Requirements Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, all positions in this class have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this class must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. Positions require work on evenings, weekends and/or holidays. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.

As a result we are seeking Interpreters to provide Sign-to-Voice and Voice-to-Sign interpreting services. Full and part-time positions are available in the US and Canada. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English * Maintain, as applicable, compliance with any national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements * Demonstrate full compliance with Sorenson standards and policies, FCC regulations and the RID Code of Professional Conduct * Demonstrate full compliance with Sorenson Communications customer service guidelines * Demonstrate full compliance with Sorenson Communications attendance policy * Accurately complete assigned tasks/duties, projects and paperwork promptly and within approved guidelines * The ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, in order to meet the demands of the VRS industry, is essential for this position. * Possess the ability to quickly learn and implement new and changing technologies * Work effectively in a team environment; receive support from and provide support to colleagues * Possess the ability to work effectively in an environment with oversight that may include, but is not limited to: call monitoring, mentoring and evaluations * Possess the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic, highly regulated environment * Enhance interpreting skills through continued education training * Demonstrate willingness and ability to complete additional duties and assignments on an ongoing basis Experience/Education/Certifications * High School Diploma or equivalent * 3+ consistent years working as a certified sign language interpreter in a variety of settings * NAD level IV/V; or a RID CI, CT, CI/CT, CSC; or NIC, NIC Advanced, NIC Master; or hold a state interpreter certificate at the Intermediate or Master Certificate skill levels or have the professional interpreting experience to become a Sorenson VRS interpreter, subject to skill set verification and screening. Other General Requirements/Additional Notes * Be able to work in an environment that is fast paced, dynamic, highly regulated, and customer service focused. * Sit for extended periods of time at a desk using computer and video equipment while processing VRS calls * Interpret in ASL and spoken English for extended periods of time * Possess the ability to work in a variety of environments and lighting arrangements, fully understanding that video relay work must be structured to present the interpreter in the best physical light possible * Positive attitude, team player, good interpersonal communication skills and able to work across company departments.
