We are now hiring for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our DSPs are the STARS of our organization who provide caregiving to the people we support. This may be in a group home, home-like setting.

Essential Responsibilities/Job Duties

  • Performing personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, and ambulation, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks. Fostering positive relationships between individuals served and their housemates

  • Ensuring client safety and maintaining a safe environment

  • Assisting with toileting, including bedpans, urinals, and commode chairs

  • Reminding/assisting client with self-administration of medications (with proper training)

  • Encouraging self-help activities

  • Reporting changes in client's condition or family situation to the office

  • Documenting services provided

  • Performing home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and cleaning

  • Planning meals, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up

  • Accompanying client to scheduled appointments

  • Transporting clients or running errands for clients

  • Other duties as assigned


  • High school degree/GED required (in most cases)

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Valid driver's license (in most cases)

  • Ability to work in a group home, home-like settings

  • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company

  • Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time

  • Must maintain state regulatory certifications, as required by state/program requirements

  • Medication Administration as required by state/program requirements

Department Summary: Led by Dr. Alexandra de Hoop Scheffer, the Paris office of the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) strengthens transatlantic dialogue and cooperation on global issues by acting as a key forum for policymakers, business leaders, academics, and experts. GMF-Paris acts as a unique platform in France for high-level policy debate focusing on the transatlantic relationship. GMF-Paris works in close cooperation with GMFs network of offices and experts on both sides of the Atlantic (Washington, D.C. (headquarters), Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Warsaw, Belgrade, Bucharest, and Ankara. This gives GMF-Paris an unmatched capacity to produce informed and holistic (national, European, transatlantic and global) analysis of the political, socio-economic and strategic dynamics in the following six areas: defense and foreign policy, U.S. and French politics, transatlantic trade policy, European affairs, digital innovation and energy transition. GMF-Paris works towards the overarching goal of providing a better understanding of U.S. policies and of the different European perspectives in France, while advancing the French perspective on core domestic and international challenges facing Europe and the United States. It does so through its convening power (high-level public and private events, strategy groups), cutting-edge research and analysis, leadership programs and by offering private sector companies membership in the Paris Business Alliance. Job Summary: The Head of Public Affairs is expected to play a key role in the fundraising and communication effort of the GMF Paris office, as well as in the development and coordination of research and convening programs. S/he will work with the Director and other team members. S/he will also be instrumental in promoting GMFs work in France and Europe, and in developing new partnerships with private and public institutions to support the activities of the Paris office. S/he will contribute actively to the design and implementation of new projects in Paris. The position offers space for creative ideas and innovation. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Program Research and Development * Support the development and implementation of research and convening programs; * Support the director of the Paris office and the deputy director of the Paris office in the preparation of talking points and research notes to prepare for media interviews and participation to conferences; * Conduct research, short term or long term on themes linked to the transatlantic relations; publish research articles and notes; * Liaise with the other offices and programs of the GMF; * Coordinate with the Program Assistant on the convening strategy and project management; * Supervise the Program Assistant and the interns. Strategic Planning * Support and define the strategic vision as well as the short-medium-and long-term priorities of GMF Paris in coordination with the other offices of the GMF; * Identify the relevant themes of interest to the GMF and the transatlantic community and analyze the consequences and implications for the activities and the strategy of the GMF Paris; * Coordinate and represent GMF Paris when reporting to the GMF Communications team based in DC, to ensure that publications, media contributions, and convenings are properly relayed among the GMF networks; * Organize the Paris Strategic Committees annual meeting. Public Relations and Fundraising * Map prospects and potential funders, help develop the fundraising strategy; * Organize fundraising meetings with representatives of the private and public sectors; * Prepare and produce high quality documents and notes to prepare for the fundraising meetings; * Draft partnership proposals and conduct budget monitoring with the Office Manager; * Strategize and propose ways and means to promote the GMFs brand and reputation among the principal policy-makers and corporate leaders; * Organize and foster the relations of the GMF with different public (parliamentarians, government, elected officials) and private (corporations, foundations) actors, both in France and abroad; * Take on any other task assigned by the Director, as required. Knowledge and Skills Needed: * Excellent communication and writing skills in both French and English; * Outstanding communication skills; * Prior work or internship experience in a think-tank, public sector or non-profit setting; * Proven experience in project management, program planning and research assistance; * Ability to work in an international environment and interest in transatlantic relations; * Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, growing, and team-based environment; * Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines, and to operate with minimal guidance; * Background or interest in foreign policy, diplomacy, transatlantic relations; ideally, knowledge of European and American domestic and foreign policies and transatlantic relations would be an asset.
