Job Title: Parent Engagement Facilitator for Scribner Middle School and New Albany High School

Classification: Extra-Duty Position (After school day hours)

• Pay: Stipend Position $4,000 for completion of all scheduled activities as listed.

Reports to: English Learner Coordinator & Assistant Superintendent, Secondary Schools

• This is a grant funded position and subject to review and need on an annual basis.

Summary: Promote parent engagement for parents of EL students at Scribner Middle School and

New Albany High School by providing parent and family outreach, connecting parents with community resources, and addressing parental concerns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Communicate with parents regarding school registration, school rules, extra-curricular activities, community resources, and 21st Century Scholars. (Scribner families)

• Facilitate meeting to teach parents about attendance and homework support, navigating PowerSchool, uploading athletic forms, making NAHS clinic appointments (workshop #1/ Scribner)

• Facilitate Family Literacy Nights and Games Night

• • families reading together in their own native language and in English ( Scribner and NAHS)
• • families playing educational games that facilitate language acquisition

• Support Family Nights on College and Career Readiness (NAHS)

• Make flyers and phone calls to make sure parents attend

• Support families in developing community by having local meetings at each school

• Other related duties as assigned.

• Develop other family workshops based in family needs

Tentative Schedule of Events:

July TBD 2 hours of registration at Scribner and NAHS

July TBD Scribner Open House

August TBD Open House at NAHS

August New Families workshops (school rules and expectations_

September All Parent workshops (Homework/Career Readiness and Community Resources

October All Parent workshop; (Family Literacy/Bi-lingualism)

November NAHS Parent workshop (Testing skills & support)

March NAHS Parent workshop w/IUS partners (FAFSA & how to enroll in higher education

May End of the year celebration and summer opportunities

Events are subject to change based on district need.

Qualifications:

• Bilingual or multilingual required (Spanish preferred)

• Exceptional oral, written and presentation skills

• Highly proficient organizational skills and time management

Position can be split between two individuals to ensure parent engagement activities can continue without interruption throughout the school year.
