We are currently seeking a full-time Parent Educator for our Autism School. It is a unique position in our Autism School Model that provides that additional home/school connection for our students and their families. The ideal candidate has experience working with families of children with autism and related experience in the educational setting.
Partners with the parent(s) and classroom teams in the development of both goals for the home and community, and sharing successful intervention strategies to insure consistency across all 3 settings: school, home, community.
Provides in-home support in the areas of behavior management, communication, functional daily living skills, social skills, and academic carry over.
Co-facilitates parent meetings
Takes video of students at school and home to use as a training resource and documentation of childs progress
Offers information on available community resources to parents.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Special Education, Psychology, or other related field.
2-3 years of experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in an education or related setting.
Ability to work effectively with a team
Ability to adapt to changes and variations in duties and responsibilities and manage time effectively
Training and experience (2-3 years) with one or more of the intervention methods used in the Autism School
Intervention Specialist licensure (mild to moderate, moderate to severe)
Experience working with parents at home, in the community and/or in an education setting
