JOB GOAL: Profile of a Natick Educator

To support student growth and provide assistance to the team of educators working with the students in the caseload, including, but not limited to, Special Educators, BCBAs, general education teachers, and school psychologists.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required

  • Completion of 15 hour RBT training and passing grade on test

  • Ongoing on-the-job training and monthly competency checks by a BCBA Behavior Therapist

  • Specialized Knowledge (preferred, but will train the right candidate)

  • Applied Behavioral Analysis techniques

  • Child development

  • Discrete trials

  • SafetyCare

  • Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs)

  • Understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice

  • Preferred Experience

  • Experience with students with developmental, emotional, or behavioral challenges

  • Experience with data collection related to student behaviors and performance

  • Skills:

  • Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed

  • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable

  • Ability to work independently

  • Willingness and ability to help co-workers as needed.

  • Excellent human relations skills required

  • Ability to work collegially and cooperatively.

  • Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

  • Ability to handle stressful situations.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

  • Phone, intercom, personal computer and software applications as outlined above, scanner, copy machine, calculator, camera, printers and fax machine.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (not limited to)

Attend team meetings and work collaboratively to articulate specific students' behavioral needs.

  • Implement behavior plans.

  • Document student performance through formal data collection.

  • Write behavior progress reports.

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments.

  • Consult with teams regarding behavior plans and behavior modifications.

  • Provide co-treatment with other specialists

  • Document observations in class and home

  • Provide direct support for students

  • Attend restraint training

Travel between schools may be required.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE

  • Any other relative duties as assigned.

  • communicate with others so that information received and given is understood and accurately communicated;

  • communicate and collaborate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members in person, via video conference, on the telephone, and/or in writing;

  • observe details at close range

  • in the school setting, ensure the safety of students;

  • multitask and meet multiple demands from several people;

  • may need to teach and support students with life skills development such as eating, cleaning, and toileting

  • lifting up to and including 25 lbs

  • the noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud
