This position is 32.5 hours per week (7 hour workday with a 1/2 hr. unpaid lunch break) - This is a group 3 position and please view the salary classifications/schedule which can be found on our website under Human Resources - collective bargaining agreements. School Hours for paraprofessionals 7:10 AM to 2:10 PM.
This individual will work with Multi Skills and Services (MSS) teachers, regular education teachers, other paraprofessionals, related service providers; including social workers, a BCBA, physical therapists, speech pathologists, and occupational therapists in supporting students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepare instructional material and learning activities in assigned classroom.Provide direct instruction to groups of students or individuals in or out of the classroom.This may include:Implementation of individualized and small group instruction and discussionsAccommodating and modifying materials to match students' needs as prescribed by the teacher.Assist with the collection of student data.Consult with teachers on students' progress and on specific strategies and methodologies to be used.Supervise unstructured time such as recess and/or lunch duty unless directed otherwise.Assist the teacher in clean-up.Assists with any other tasks students are not able to perform for themselvesDepending on assignment, provide assistance in escorting children to and from vehicles during drop-off or pick-up.Assist students in using technology.Assist substitutes in following lesson plans when classroom teacher is absentAbility to lift 30lbs. independentlyWillingness to participate in toileting activities is required.Provide other related duties that the Principal, Special Education Director, and/or teacher may assign
REQUIREMENTS:
Focus: Functional Academic Instruction through Access Points to grade level curriculum standards with an emphasis on related services, Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills, and medical care
Support students who require a fully sub-separate program with a higher staff to student ratio due to severe cognitive impairments and/or medical concerns. This program is intended to support the district's students who present with the most severe needs in the most restrictive environment within the Billerica Public Schools. Students may require specialized equipment, AAC/AT, nursing care, and individual health plans. Students are engaging with the curriculum through Access Points and require consistent, repeated instructional methodology (including utilization of ABA) to meet individual learning goals. Students may require significant relatedservice provision that is part of the program structure, due to physical impairments and needs.
