Job Summary:

The Paramedic Licensed provides basic and advanced life support treatment, care and evaluation of patients on scene and during transport.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes the ill or injured patient during interfacility and intrafacility transport under the direction and in collaboration with the transport physician and/or Registered Nurse (RN).

  • Initiates and implements interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.

  • Provides population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions.

  • Inspects, maintains and cares for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.

  • Operates emergency vehicle following applicable safety guidelines.

  • Operates 2-way radio and communicates patient condition to primary facility.

  • Participates in community education and training.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • May be required to be "on-call."

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • Certified Basic BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Licensed Drivers License credentialed from the Texas Department of Public Safety .

  • Licensed Paramedic specializing in Paramedic credentialed from the Texas Department of State Health Services .

  • Preferred Credential(s):

  • Certified Advanced Advanced Advanced Life Support specializing in Advanced Cardio Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education:

  • HS or Equivalent

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required and Six (6) months of related experience is preferred. Must be able to pass a DOT physical.

Qualifications Licenses/Certifications/Registration: * Required Credential(s): * Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) course completion card from the American Heart Association is required prior to hire or job transfer date. * Valid Texas Driver's License is required or must be obtained prior to hire or job transfer date. * Paramedic License from the state of Texas is required or must be obtained prior to hire or job transfer date. * Preferred Credential(s): * Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are preferred.
