Staffs the Paramedic Intercept Unit and Emergency Department as an actively participating patient care provider.

Provides Advanced Life Support level services to the community by responding to 911 calls on the Exeter ALS Paramedic Intercept unit. Initiates State of NH patient treatment protocols as appropriate. Presents professionally. Performs as part of the patient care delivery team in the Emergency Department with responsibilities including: Assessments, Cardiac Monitoring, O2 Therapy, Airway Management, EKGs, Phlebotomy, IV Therapy, Medication Administration, Splinting, Crutch Fitting, Suture set up, Vital Sign measurement and patient discharges. May accept a full ED patient assignment in collaboration with RN. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement programs, safety/environment of care programs and infection control standards. Monitors the medical condition of patients and documents and reports changes to appropriate personnel. Completes required paperwork and documents all patient care activities in the patient#s electronic medical records, ensuring accuracy of the record. Functions as part of the rapid response/code team response for the hospital as assigned. Performs basic and advanced emergency measures including airway management, CPR, ACLS and PALS. Demonstrates working knowledge of all Emergency Department and ALS equipment.# Assists in ordering equipment, checking and maintaining supplies on the ALS intercept unit and in the ED. Functions as a clinical preceptor for new staff and students. Other duties as assigned within scope.
