Paralleling Switchgear Electrical Engineer

The Electrical Engineer, Paralleling Switchgear is responsible for the design and management for paralleling switchgear projects from the time an order is received until the project ships.
Design paralleling switchgear in accordance to customer specification, internal specifications, and applicable industry standards.
Prepare submittal documentation for projects and meet with customers to discuss project requirements and review submittals.
Ensure projects have proper controls, metering and monitoring. Controls include. Power meters automation equipment (PLC/HMI), protective relays, load sharing, synchronization, etc.
Provide sketches, mark-ups and direction to Electrical and Mechanical Designers to develop project drawings. Review and approve project drawings
Select components and create bill of materials.
Provide direction to PLC/HMI programmers
Write operating sequences and instruction manuals.
Assist with the selection and setting of protective relays. Knowledge of digital multifunction relays, genset protection and utility intertie requirements desired.
Receives general direction but exercises discretion as to personal work details. Plan and execute as needed to accomplish assigned individual tasks to meet expectations (cost, quality, delivery). Assumes responsibility of all assigned work.
Work as a member of a project team, maintain project schedule, attend project meetings, and keep project manager informed of status, and complete required project metrics and design documentation. Understand all parts of larger project
Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required.
Provide technical support to Manufacturing and Sales Departments.
Assist with the development and updating of ISO procedures and internal design guides.
Ensure projects are build to applicable UL and ANSI standards. Knowledge of UL 891, 1558 and ANSI C37 desired.
BS in Electrical Engineering.
Power System experience desired.
Knowledge of PLC/HMI programming desired.
