About the role

Zillow Group, Inc. is looking to expand our legal team with the addition of a Claims Paralegal position. This position will perform a variety of duties to assist the Zillow Offers product on all real estate and construction matters. In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop claims manuals for all types of real estate and construction disputes in multiple jurisdictions, such as unlawful detainer, mechanics' lien, construction defect, wrongful disclosures and breach of contract.

  • Manage open claims and litigation matters through resolution, including the preparation and review of case summaries and claims analyses, as well as the negotiation and documentation of settlement and resolution materials.

  • Engage with field office management personnel to provide guidance and gather information on dispute resolution.

  • Coordinate with outside counsel in the administration of litigation matters; including assistance with responding to legal complaints, fact-finding and responding to discovery requests.

  • Perform periodic claims analysis to help identify improvements to company policies and procedures aimed at minimizing risk and lawsuits.

  • Review and process legal invoices.

  • Developing, managing and maintaining an internal and online case management and filing systems.

  • Collaborate with IT and other business units to identify and implement system improvements with claim manuals, work flow systems and the case management platform.

  • Provide assistance with insurance claims submission and respond to carrier coverage assessments as needed.

  • Additional project work as needed to include performing, synthesizing and summarizing legal research on various topics as assigned.

  • Working independently and on a variety of topics with little to no supervision and deliver high quality service and results in a fast-paced environment.

Who you are

  • At least 6 - 10 years of experience as a paralegal handling construction defect, contractor dispute and related matters.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with exposure to confidential information and an understanding of the importance of maintaining such confidentiality including legal and financial information.

  • Proven analytical ability and initiative.

  • Ability to anticipate legal issues and proactively identify redundancies and efficiency opportunities.

  • Ability to set priorities and exercise independent judgment.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to effectively handle shifting priorities and adapt to changing demands in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
