About the Position: This position is located at Fort Polk, Louisiana. The surrounding community is comprised of the towns of Leesville, DeRidder, New Llano, & Anacoco. The nearest cities are Alexandria & Lake Charles. The area is considered rural with the Kisatchie National Forest, which offers hunting and recreational activities, located nearby. Also located nearby are Toledo Bend Lake, Vernon Lake & Anacoco Lake for those interested in fishing, boating, swimming, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, log, and review disciplinary/administrative case files, external inquiries and staff actions

  • Determine the sufficiency of the documentation submitted for consideration

  • Initiate action with appropriate office(s) in order to obtain the required documentation or information (i.e. supporting documents and evidence)

  • Type a variety of correspondence, i.e. letters, memorandums, messages, in draft and final format

  • Ensure proper format, grammar, style, etc., and compliance with established regulations

  • Use various computer programs and online tools to track all actions from receipt through disposition and maintains historical action files, office files and records

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves 1) conducting legal research and fact finding for case/investigation processing; 2) reviewing formal complaints to identify issues involved; and 3) analyzing documents for supportive evidence to write synopses for use by an attorney. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
