Job Description Job Description Robert Half Legal Permanent Placement is seeking a highly organized and experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistant with experience in family law to join our client in Newton, MA . This position will provide crucial support to our attorney(s) in all aspects of family law cases, from inception to resolution. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a compassionate approach to client interaction, and a thorough understanding of family law procedures.
Mentorship will be provided by the managing partner. Responsibilities: Case Management: Manage and organize all aspects of case files, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Docket Management: Maintain and monitor case calendars, deadlines, and court appearances. Ensure timely filings and adherence to court procedures.
Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates, answering questions, and offering support throughout the legal process. This includes daily interaction with clients.
Document Preparation: Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, agreements, and correspondence, with accuracy and attention to detail. Discovery: Assist with the discovery process, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and subpoenas.
Financial Management: Handle financial aspects of cases, including trust accounts, invoicing, and expense tracking. Court Interaction:
File documents with the court, schedule hearings, and communicate with court personnel. Technology Proficiency: Utilize online portals and legal research databases to manage cases and conduct research.
Meeting Coordination: Schedule and coordinate meetings, depositions, and mediations. Deposition Preparation:
Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, including organizing exhibits and summarizing transcripts. Collaboration: Work closely with attorneys and other staff members to ensure seamless case management. Mentorship: Benefit from the mentorship and guidance of the managing partner, Anne.
Weekly Meetings: Participate in weekly meetings with associates and the managing partner. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant in a family law setting - 5 plus years in FAMILY LAW.
Comprehensive understanding of family law principles and procedures, particularly in areas such as high-conflict divorce, paternity, custody, asset division, domestic violence, child support, DCF investigations, adoptions, and post-divorce modifications. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
