Job Overview

Provide legal support services to attorneys in the form of basic document collection and preparation of legal and business communications. Ensure accurate tracking of all legal files, including entering and closing matters in Serengeti Tracker (the matter management system). Develop processes for tracking matter management and case assignments.


  • Draft legal and business communications in support of attorneys, prepare legal documents and other correspondence.

  • Handle service of process intake from CT Corporation and ensure that cases are assigned to the appropriate team member.

  • Ensure new matters, including lawsuits, pre-litigation claims, subpoenas, etc. are accurately entered into the Serengeti Tracker matter management system. Responsible for the review of all information contained in Serengeti Tracker to ensure each legal file has an attorney assigned and an associated case budget set up. Responsible for reporting on case status, assignments and relevant deadlines. Responsible for preparation of reports regarding all settled, dismissed and otherwise completed matters.

  • Maintain calendar of all relevant deadlines for all matters and provide updates on a weekly basis on upcoming deadlines and important case developments.

  • Assist in the collection of discovery documents/information from relevant stakeholders in MBUSA and prepare information to be provided to outside counsel in support of discovery requests. Track all information that is provided to outside counsel and create and manage database for redundant interrogatories and document requests.

  • Support licensing efforts regarding business licenses in various states, including management of the deadlines for license renewals and the paperwork associated with same.

  • Perform annual Internal Control Testing (ICS) for warranty litigation.

  • Process check requests, manage chargebacks to Daimler AG and set up new vendors.


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in a corporate law department, law firm, or equivalent is required.
  • A paralegal certificate or certification is preferred but not required.

Your Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Training, Education: * College degree, with a preference for either an emphasis in paralegal studies or post-graduate certification from an American Bar Association approved course of paralegal studies. * Experience negotiating, reviewing, editing, and drafting portions of commercial contracts and confidentiality agreements either in a law firm or corporate in-house environment. * General understanding of the areas of law relevant to commercial contracts, including contract interpretation under relevant law, dispute procedures, and related matters. * Proven analytical and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. * Advanced legal writing, drafting and negotiation skills. * Ability to prioritize urgent projects and meet deadlines. * Ability to work both as part of a team and independently. * Fluency in Spanish, including the ability to conduct oral conversations regarding legal topics and to draft contract language in Spanish, is beneficial but not required.
