Overview & Responsibilities

Republic Finance is seeking a dedicated and experienced paralegal to join its Legal & Compliance team. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing litigation matters and supporting the legal team's work on key company projects. This is an important role with significant responsibilities operating within a collaborative, high-performing Legal & Compliance team.

The primary job responsibilities for the Paralegal

  • Litigation & Projects position are as follows:
  • Receive and review all litigation filings, including service of process and subpoenas, and escalate to litigation attorney(s), as appropriate.

  • Draft, review, and prepare responses to legal documents, including subpoenas, discovery requests, and other legal or regulatory demands or requests, and correspondence.

  • Investigate accounts for compliance with applicable laws and company policies and procedures and summarize facts and findings.

  • Perform moderately complex legal research, apply results to facts, and develop and communicate legal conclusions.

  • Maintain and update litigation and project-related trackers, files, forms and records.

  • Assist the legal team in facilitating and completing tasks related to key company projects.

  • Communicate with multiple internal partners and/or external parties to complete key projects from beginning to end to achieve the desired results by the required deadlines.

  • Manage multiple projects that require interaction with multiple attorneys, departments, and internal and external clients, including managers.

  • Design, maintain, and/or manage one or more legal team workflow processes, reports, tools, and databases.

  • Design and implement organizational processes for retaining internal and external correspondence and materials prepared and/or received by the legal team.

  • Provide administrative support to the legal team (e.g., typing, copy editing, printing, copying, mailing, scanning, filing, etc.).

  • Establish priorities, work concurrently on a variety of projects, and take initiative in meeting and exceeding the expectations of the position.

  • Complete projects and special assignments, as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree/Paralegal Certificate or equivalent combination of education/related experience.

  • Relevant experience, preferably in banking, finance, or internal audit related fields.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.

  • Strong understanding of legal proceedings with the ability to analyze and interpret legal documents.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to express complex facts and legal principles clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

  • Strong analytical thinking skills with the ability to identify and define issues, establish facts, analyze complex information, and develop substantiated conclusions with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and deliver under the pressure of multiple deadlines in a fast-paced work environment without compromising quality.

  • Creative problem-solving skills with ability to identify and resolve complex problems in a timely manner seeking input of others as needed.

  • Ability to work individually and in a team setting and be able to interact with partners across all departments.

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), LexisNexis, and Adobe.
