The Paralegal will have strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects ranging from routine to those calling for independent judgment and initiative in a fast-paced environment; strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be reliable, a fast learner, self-motivated, be a team player and must have great "people skills". Have the ability to engage in a variety of tasks, including loan documentation, loan closings, conducting research and resolving routine legal questions under the direction of an attorney on a level between the attorney and the legal secretary; and ranging from repetitive to those calling for judgment and independent initiative. Provides research and support activity and counsel and advises company personnel on routine matters. Prepares agreements, instruments, documents, and pleadings relating to litigation and non-litigation matters. Supports Legal Department administrative tasks including but not limited to outside counsel management, litigation/litigation hold management, legal invoice processing, and records management in addition to other tasks as assigned.

  • Assisting in reviewing and loan drafting documents (client correspondence, agreements, closings).

  • Interacting with internal clients in meetings and group projects; as well as possibly leading such efforts.

  • UCC log management

  • Handles annual reports and licensing

  • Researching claims/complaints and making recommendation in pre-litigation phase as well as with respect to matters in litigation.

  • Advanced legal research and analysis.

  • Advanced management of discovery as well as reviewing legal documents.

  • Search/Compile legal research, and managing litigation docket and assist with drafting/reviewing pleadings.

  • Collect, process and review of electronic discovery (e-discovery).

  • Coordinate all aspects of hard copy and electronic document productions (scheduling, bates-stamping, photocopying/scanning, shipment, etc.)

  • Assist attorney(s) in case management by organizing maintaining case files along with indexing and document retrieval systems from inception through matter resolution.

  • Assist counsel in resolution of matters.

  • Provides guidance and assistance with respect to service of process, subpoena and garnishment matters.

  • Other tasks as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificated or related work experience; 12+ years paralegal experience

  • Strong professional and interpersonal communication skills verbally and through written electronic correspondence.

  • While working under the direction of an attorney, expected to exhibit independent decision making skills with minimal oversight.
