The Candidate shall provide paralegal support to the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate in the areas of contracts and agreements, intellectual property law, general law (including standards of conduct), investigations, labor and employment law, and office administration. Candidate personnel providing paralegal support will provide detail-oriented and client focused paralegal and other related support to assist legal staff and attorneys in all aspects of their work, to include performing research for all legal practice areas in support of the attorneys; draft legal documents, including legal reviews/responses, pleadings, subpoenas, discovery requests, responses and routine motions and briefs; draft and edit non-legal memoranda, research reports and correspondence; assist attorneys in preparing for all phases of litigation and legal opinion preparation; notes possible deficiencies in case materials (e.g., missing documents, conflicting statements) and additional issues or other questionable matters, and requests further investigation by other agency personnel to correct possible deficiencies or personally conducts limited investigations; organize case documents; conduct first-level document review, coordinate document production; prepare and organize evidence, discovery, and exhibits; develops strategies for inquiring into allegations, and collects preliminary fact-finding data; employ advanced investigative skills in conducting interviews and researching (before, during, and after initial inquiry); logistical support for the production of witnesses and respondents; provide case analysis support; coordinate/staff legal actions; performs a wide range of administrative functions essential to the management and efficient legal office operations; searches for and summarizes relevant articles in trade magazines, law reviews, published studies, financial reports, and similar materials for use of attorneys in the preparation of opinions, briefs, and other legal documents; prepares digests of selected decisions or opinions which incorporate legal references and analyses of precedents involved in areas of well-defined and settled points of law; verify citations and legal references on prepared legal documents; possess expert knowledge and proficiency of laws, regulations, directives, and policies in compliance and administrative law with an emphasis on ethics and Army investigations; analytical work typically involves military regulations, civil law, Federal and State statutes, and civilian personnel matters; assist with the administration and coordination of the Financial Disclosure Program coordinator; facilitate and provide legal training; Defense Travel System Coordinator; Records Filing Management Officer; knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Office Suite products, Lexis/Lexis Advanced, Westaw, and other legal applications and tools; track actions/projects for the attorneys and staff; and provide case management support ensuring supervisory attorneys and the legal office's leadership are aware of pending deadlines and case activity. Requirements • Five years of paralegal experience and be a certified paralegal holding one of the following credentials: Advanced Certified Paralegal (ACP), American Alliance Certified Paralegal (AACP), Core Registered Paralegal (CRP), Certified Paralegal and Certified Legal Assistant (CP/CLA), Professional Paralegal (PP), or Registered Paralegal (RP). Occasional travel may be required. * Candidate personnel must possess and be able to apply in-depth professional knowledge and expertise of Army and DoD procedures and practices * Candidate personnel are expected to have the knowledge and proficiency in the following functional areas: Acquisition Law, Military Law, Business Law, General Law, Labor and Employment Law, and law office management operations. SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
