JOB SUMMARY
The Paralegal will support in-house attorneys in all aspects of litigation and file management
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Proactively support three (3) or more attorneys
Draft pleadings and motions for attorney review, and file them with the court
Aid attorneys with interrogatories, requests for production and other discovery requests
Draft discovery response shells
Organize documents for depositions
Assist attorneys with organization for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials
Conduct legal research of arguments to be presented
Correspond via email with opposing counsel and court
Administrative duties may be required such as maintaining attorneys' calendars, scheduling legal events, and ensuring deadlines are met
Mentor and train Legal Assistants as needed
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years of Paralegal experience preferred
Property insurance defense and litigation experience preferred
Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, etc.
Must be self-managed and be able to work independently
Solid organizational skills and strong attention to detail in meeting deadlines
Advanced knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
Must have an ability to use Florida's E-Filing System and other relevant web based systems
Ability to accurately process a variety of tasks and high volumes of work in a fast-paced environment
Superior interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
Resourceful research and analytical skills
Holds a high level of professionalism

HYBRID WORKING & COLLABORATION WEEKS
To foster HCI's commitment to creating a collaborative work environment, remote workers will be required to report to a central office location for one day per week as well as one full week every quarter for collaboration, team building, and educational exercises. Attendance during collaboration weeks is a vital component of our team culture, and therefore mandatory unless exceptions are approved through Human Resources. Additionally, employees may be asked to report to the office outside of collaboration weeks as project requirements, team meetings, or other organizational needs that necessitate in-person collaboration occur.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily sedentary in nature. Job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and other devices. The employee will be exposed to normal office environment conditions and temperatures. Noise level is low to moderate.
