The Paralegal (Grants Coordinator) will provide support to ABIOMED's Legal Department, including Abiomed's Chief Compliance Officer. This will include serving as Abiomed's Grants Coordinator, administering Legal Department committees including the Grants Committee and Compliance Committee and other corporate committee functions as necessary. This position will also research, draft and edit documents prepared by members of the Legal Department.


  • Provide legal and administrative support to Abiomed's Legal Department including Abiomed's Chief Compliance Officer

  • Organize and manage the Abiomed grants process as Grants Coordinator, in accordance with the ABIOMED Code of Conduct and Compliance Policy

  • Organize and manage the Abiomed Compliance Committee, in accordance with the Abiomed Code of Conduct and Compliance Policy

  • Support the Abiomed Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) Review Committee

  • Prepare agendas, coordinate department specific meetings and presentations, attend meetings and subsequently follow-up on significant and timely matters

  • Take and transcribe minutes of various meetings

  • Upon request, draft, proofread, edit and provide substantive comment on corporate policies and procedures, commercial and other agreements, written correspondence and litigation pleadings prepared by the Legal Department

  • Maintain department files, including records, and electronic filing system

  • Prepare and work with outside vendors to complete confidentiality and service agreements

  • Provide administrative support such as coordination of files, purchase orders, calendars, schedules and special projects to members of Abiomed's Legal Department


  • Bachelor's Degree required. Paralegal certificate or equivalent preferred

  • Must have a minimum of five years of prior legal office experience, either in-house or at a law firm.

  • Able to work independently and handle a wide variety of situations, including conflict resolution and troubleshooting issues.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) is required.

  • Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational, prioritization, time-management skills and attention to detail required.

  • Ability to draft, proofread and edit legal correspondence, written briefs and commercial agreements.

VIEW JOBS 2/27/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-05-28T00:00 Job Description: Full-time Faculty (Program Coordinator), Paralegal Program Career & Technical Education and Business Division MCCC/MTA Unit position The Paralegal Program Coordinator will oversee the growth and development of the program, balancing the duties of a coordinator with teaching responsibilities. The Coordinator will work with other Paralegal faculty and college administrators and staff to maintain ABA (American Bar Association) approval. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Teach up to four courses or twelve credits each semester in the Paralegal Program, including law courses in related Programs, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. * Serve as the Program Coordinator of the Paralegal Program with responsibilities that include program planning, curriculum development, student recruitment and retention, as well as budgeting. * Provide academic and career advising for Paralegal Program students. * Oversee compliance with ABA Guidelines for approved Paralegal Program. * Work closely with admissions and advising to ensure accurate processes are in place for special admissions process. * Coordinate practicum placements. * Work across departments and divisions to ensure accreditation compliance. * Identify competencies for faculty in program courses and assist in recruiting and orienting faculty. * Review program curricula, syllabi, course content, and schedules, implementing curriculum changes as necessary. * Convene advisory committee each semester using published guidelines. * Develop marketing materials (e.g., flyers, brochures, mailings) and coordinate promotion in cooperation with the Marketing Office. * Coordinate communication and meetings with administration, faculty, the advisory committee, and educators at other Massachusetts community colleges. * Develop a written report on Program's outcomes at the end of semester for reassigned time and review report with Academic Dean. * Participate in appropriate college service activities (e.g. governance committee membership, recruitment activities, development/enhancement of courses/program and/or resources). * Must be willing to travel between campuses as needed to fulfill instructional and non-instructional workload. * Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Requirements: * A JD degree with experience supervising paralegals, preferably in the past five years, or a Bachelor's degree in Paralegal plus a related Master's degree and a minimum of three years paralegal experience. * Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and interpersonal connection with culturally diverse populations * Teaching experience in higher education and/or at the community college level is strongly preferred. * Experience teaching online/hybrid and/or embedding the use of technology into the curriculum preferred. * Familiarity with ABA Approval Guidelines for paralegal programs preferred. * Experience with academic program review and assessment preferred. * Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations. * Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment. Additional Information: SALARY: Anticipated salary range is $46,000 - $56,000 per year plus fringe benefits. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement.
