The Paralegal (Grants Coordinator) will provide support to ABIOMED's Legal Department, including Abiomed's Chief Compliance Officer. This will include serving as Abiomed's Grants Coordinator, administering Legal Department committees including the Grants Committee and Compliance Committee and other corporate committee functions as necessary. This position will also research, draft and edit documents prepared by members of the Legal Department.
Provide legal and administrative support to Abiomed's Legal Department including Abiomed's Chief Compliance Officer
Organize and manage the Abiomed grants process as Grants Coordinator, in accordance with the ABIOMED Code of Conduct and Compliance Policy
Organize and manage the Abiomed Compliance Committee, in accordance with the Abiomed Code of Conduct and Compliance Policy
Support the Abiomed Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) Review Committee
Prepare agendas, coordinate department specific meetings and presentations, attend meetings and subsequently follow-up on significant and timely matters
Take and transcribe minutes of various meetings
Upon request, draft, proofread, edit and provide substantive comment on corporate policies and procedures, commercial and other agreements, written correspondence and litigation pleadings prepared by the Legal Department
Maintain department files, including records, and electronic filing system
Prepare and work with outside vendors to complete confidentiality and service agreements
Provide administrative support such as coordination of files, purchase orders, calendars, schedules and special projects to members of Abiomed's Legal Department
Bachelor's Degree required. Paralegal certificate or equivalent preferred
Must have a minimum of five years of prior legal office experience, either in-house or at a law firm.
Able to work independently and handle a wide variety of situations, including conflict resolution and troubleshooting issues.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) is required.
Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational, prioritization, time-management skills and attention to detail required.
Ability to draft, proofread and edit legal correspondence, written briefs and commercial agreements.
