Paralegal

POSITION OVERVIEW

dormakaba is hiring a Paralegal in its Indianapolis, IN location to assist the in-house counsel with legal issues affecting the business, including litigation and transactional matters. The Paralegal will assist in the preparation and review of corporate resolutions and other legal documents and draft memoranda and correspondence. They will be responsible for opening and closing litigation matters, assisting with subpoena responses, and conducting internal investigations.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $85,000-100,000 plus bonus (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) Please visit our career site for more information on benefits.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Communicate with attorneys, court officers and government agencies regarding litigation, employment and corporate legal matters

• Assist with e-discovery, management of legal holds, and gathering information and documents responsive to discovery and investigative requests

• Assist with maximizing the quality, cost and efficiency of acquired outside legal services

• Develop and update organizational systems such as litigation or corporate governance databases; prepare spreadsheets, organizational charts, timelines, and project management tracking. Maintain files and reports, including tracking case developments in a database

• Follow up on pending items, track project progress, and stay current on project status and milestones.

• Notify insurance of claims and potential claims; prepare reports on insured matters.

WHAT WE REQUIRE

• 8+ years' experience as Paralegal

• Experience in the review, processing, and drafting of department documents; ability to utilize detail and depth of legal understanding to conduct, gather, and present research materials.

• Knowledge of routine legal procedures and legal terminology for both transactional and litigation matters and preparation of legal documents

• Discretion to understand when appropriate to take action and when to refer matters to supervising attorney.

• Ability to successfully interact with attorneys and professionals, including assistance with the management of outside legal counsel, as well as successfully interact with customers, contractors, and vendors as well as dormakaba business colleagues maintaining professionalism and confidentiality

• Knowledge of legal technology and tools, such as matter management systems, e-billing, e-discovery, legal database software
