Full-time position available with the Law Department, Domestic Violence Division located at 511 E. 11th St.
Salary Range: $24.77-$37.16/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
Assists in the witness preparation of all violations of City ordinances in Kansas City, Missouri Municipal Court.
Performs work under the direction of the City Prosecutor.
Makes telephone, email, and in person contact with Prosecution witnesses, both civilian and police, to ensure their appearance at trial and to advise witnesses of changes in court docketing and trial dates.
Contacts insurers to verify coverage.
Retrieves police reports and criminal records from various databases.
Enters data on Excel spreadsheets and court databases.
Assists prosecutors in trial preparations.
Performs related secretarial, switchboard, and reception duties.
Assists witnesses and prosecutors in courtrooms during arraignments, hearings, and trials.
Tracks time and statistics for grant reporting purposes since this position is primarily VOCA grant funded.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Associate's degree or certificate in paralegal studies (sometimes also called legal assistant or other similar terms); OR an accredited Bachelor's degree; OR high school graduation and 3 years of experience working in a law office performing administrative work.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
