Position Title: Paralegal
Position Status: Exempt
Work Hours: Mon-Fri. Ability to work some evenings and Saturdays; Secondary holidays may be a scheduled work day.

Position Summary:
This is a full-time, exempt position. This is an in-person position located at the College's System Office in Orchard Park, NY. The incumbent will have the opportunity for a hybrid-remote work schedule pursuant to College policy.
In this role, you will work closely with the Director of Legal Affairs as well as cross-departmentally within the College on a wide variety of legal, regulatory, operational and compliance-related matters. Reporting to the Director of Legal Affairs, the incumbent will assist in coordinating work in one or more principal functions of the Department such as policy research, development and writing; legal research, analysis and writing; contract review, analysis and drafting/revising; preparation of training materials or other legal project materials; responding to legal questions from other departments and functional areas; investigations and the preparation of responses to agency complaints; student disciplinary and/or grievance matters; monitoring federal and state statutory and regulatory developments and related legislation or agency guidance. Responsible for managing document storage of College policies, contracts and legal matters. Associated administrative responsibilities for matters outlined above including, but not limited to, scheduling of meetings, arranging calls, assisting with setting project timelines/deadlines and working independently and/or as part of a team to ensure adherence to the same.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducts research and analysis of law in a variety of areas including, but not limited to, regulation of institutions of higher education, contract law, information security and data privacy, discrimination, and general state law civil causes of action in response to legal-related inquiries. Responds to inquiries from College departments and outside sources.
Assists with factual investigations pertaining to matters affecting the College when requested, including organization of evidence, preparation of correspondence, pleadings or other document submissions.
Assists Director of Legal Affairs with review of proposed agreements and contracts, including facilitation of review and negotiation process, information security vendor audits, contract execution, storage of records and calendar entries for renewal periods.
Maintains spreadsheets, document storage and/or databases relevant to the Department of Legal Affairs and/or the College, and other administrative support for matters related to the Department of Legal Affairs.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Paralegal (or Legal) Studies or equivalent work experience.
At least three (3) years of paralegal or legal assistant experience in a law firm, in-house legal department or combination of both.
Working knowledge of Office365 and MS Office suite (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Working knowledge of online legal research platform (either LexisNexis or Westlaw).
Excellent writing, verbal and organizational skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Position requires standing or sitting in a stationary position as well as the occasional need to lift, carry, push, and/or move objects up to 10 pounds.
Position also requires the use of computer technology/equipment.
Position requires the ability to hear conversations and receive information in person and over the telephone.
Position requires the ability to convey detailed and important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Background Check or Licensing Requirements:
This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check.
Salary Information:
$60,000 - $70,000 per year.

The selected candidate's actual base pay for this role will take into account a wide range of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
