American International Group, Inc. is seeking a Paralegal to join its legal department. This position is based in Atlanta, Georgia and will report to a senior lawyer within the Corporate Administrative Services, Procurement, and Real Estate Legal team.

The paralegal's primary role will be to assist in-house counsel who support the commercial and personal insurance Claims department and Special Investigation Unit (SIU) with preparation of state regulatory filings, including compiling related documentation and processing filing fees. The paralegal will also assist with legal research and analysis, as needed.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Provide paralegal support to the broader Corporate Administrative Services, Procurement, and Real Estate Legal team group as needed;

  • Develop working knowledge of Claims and SIU reporting calendar and systems such as NIPR;

  • Provide general support on insurance licensing activities applicable to Claims entities and individual adjusters;

  • Assist with completion and review of NAIC director and officer biographical affidavits;

  • Collect, review and prepare documents, including Bates numbering, redactions if permissible, and Privilege logs, for productions to regulators and law enforcement on SIU referrals;

  • Perform federal litigation docket research in PACER, including status of Bankruptcy filings by insurance policyholders;

  • Assist with operation of internal controls applicable to Bankruptcy stays; and

  • Perform other related duties and ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of relevant experience with a Property & Casualty insurer and/or law firm preferred, but not required.

  • Insurance regulatory specific experience a plus

  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to coordinate complex tasks with multiple stakeholders

  • Superior organization skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on collaboration

  • Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate preferred
