The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Rehabilitation Therapies is seeking a Para-Educator to work under the general supervision of classroom educators or educational consultants to provide coverage to hospital based classrooms within the inpatient Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health unit.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • State of Iowa Para-educators certificate or 2 years equivalent post-secondary coursework in education, psychology, or related areas is required

Desirable Qualifications

  • Evidence of successful teamwork in school or clinical setting

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work load

The Environmental Educator will support lead teachers and students in nature education by designing, planning and implementing outdoor and nature-related activities for youth. This position will also coordinate with the Bur Oak Land Trust AmeriCorps education team to develop opportunities for enhancement including field trips and environmental programming. As an AmeriCorps member, the Environmental Educator will participate in National Days of Service and complete several trainings. The Environmental Educator will serve a standard 40-hour per week schedule at Tamarack Discovery School with time off for holidays designated by the school calendar.
