Monday

  • Thursday: 7:30am

  • 2:30pm (Includes one 15-minute paid break and one 30-minute un-paid lunch break)

Friday: 7:30 - 12:30pm (Includes one 15-minute paid break)

Weekly working hours: 31

Wage: $23.11 - $26.49 per hour (2023-24 PSE Salary Schedule 2024/25 TBD)

PSE PARA - SECONDARY M-F

Position includes supporting small groups of students who have individualized educational plans as well as collaborating with special education teachers. At times, para educator may work one on one with students as well.

Position Summary: Under the direction of a certified staff member, assists in the delivery of educational programs to individual or small groups of students in a variety of settings. These settings include, but are not limited to, special and general education classrooms; community sites, and vocational sites on and off school campuses. Daily schedule generally includes some shifts of outdoor recess, bus arrival/dismissal, and/or lunchroom supervision. For complete details, please see the attached job description.

Must meet WA State Paraeducator requirements:

  • At least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent,

In addition, a paraeducator must also meet one of the following:

  • Receive a passing grade on the Education Testing Service paraeducator assessment (ETS ParaPro); OR
  • Hold a minimum of an associate degree; OR
  • Have earned at least 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at an accredited institution of higher learning; OR
  • Have completed a registered apprenticeship program.

Upon hire, successful candidate must provide:

  • A copy of a High School diploma or HS transcripts, or acceptable equivalent document.

  • Official post secondary transcript(s).

  • Insurance: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, basic life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance if the assignment is anticipated to work at least 630 hours per year.*

  • Retirement Plans: This position is eligible for an IRA through WA Department of Retirement Services and a 403(b) TSA Retirement Savings Plan.

  • Paid Holidays: This position is eligible for up to 12 paid holidays per year. The number of holidays depends on employee's start and end dates.

  • Paid Time Off: Employees working less than 12 months per year earn 7 days' worth of vacation pay per year and accrue 1 day of sick leave per month. Up to 3 days of personal leave may be granted each school year. Vacation and sick leave are based on scheduled hours and position start date.

  • Snoqualmie Valley School District benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours employees are anticipated to work during the school year (September 1 through August 31). Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more for SVSD in a school year, including substitute work, is eligible for benefits. Eligibility will be re-established at the start of each school year.
