PARAEDUCATOR- RESOURCE/GENERAL EDUCATION

REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:

All classroom Para Educators in Peninsula School District are required by law to meet ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) Para Educator requirements:

  1. Para Educators must show documentation of high school diploma or equivalent

  2. Para Educators must fulfill one of the three following requirements:

a. Completed 72 quarter or 48-semester credits at an institution of higher education, OR

b. Obtained an Associate's (or higher) degree, OR

c. Take and pass the Para Pro Assessment developed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS)

Experience in a school setting and school-aged individuals is desirable.

FUNDAMENTAL COURSE OF STUDY:

  • FCS training is offered by the district and must be completed as directed by the district.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING: Must complete Right Response training after employment is offered. NOTE: Right Response training is conducted primarily on weekends as a two-day paid training. Must complete training in First Aid and CPR training after employment is offered.

REQUIRED PRIOR TO STARTING WORK: Unless you have been fingerprinted in a school district within the last two years, you will be required to have fingerprinting done. The Olympic ESD 114 (360.478.6881) in Bremerton offers digital live-scan fingerprinting services by appointment for a fee of $83.00.

Conditions of Employment

  • Would you be willing to perform health services including, but not limited to, Clean Intermittent Catheterization (CIC), gastrointestinal tube feeding using a pump or gravity, administration of oral medication by mouth, feeding tube, inhaler or nebulizer, use of a magnet over a Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS) to control seizures, oral suctioning using a bulb syringe or suction machine, provision of a cough-assist procedure, administration of emergency medication using an auto injector, administration of oxygen, and Ostomy care?
  • Do you have first aid and CPR training, or would you be willing to complete training in these areas if required by the district?
  • Have you successfully completed training in Right Response (principle based de-escalation techniques) or would you be willing to complete this type of training if required by the district?
  • Do you certify the answers given herein are true and complete to the best of your knowledge?

Benefits

Upon hire, Employee will be eligible to earn sick leave. This position is not projected to meet the six hundred thirty hours of employment in a school year for SEBB benefits.
