About the Employer
We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school.
We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean.
Antioch is known as the "Gateway to the Delta" and is one of California's oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate's training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned administrator, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of special needs students.
Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of individual education plans. Provide routine clerical support. Generally, provides service to students in Special Day Class Programs, CBI classrooms, or to students with Moderate/Severe special education needs.

SELECTION & EXAMINATIONS: The selection process will consist of a competitive application screening for completeness, qualifications, and experience.
Application evaluation (weighted 10%) and an oral interview exam (weighted 90%) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on each portion to be placed on the eligibility list. Final interviews for specific vacancies will be scheduled from the approved eligibility list.
