The successful candidate will provide supervisor support for a team of subject matter experts across multiple areas of the paper making process throughout Georgia Pacific's North America facilities. This role does require domestic travel on a regular basis and does not require relocation.

Our Team

Georgia-Pacific is recruiting for a Manager

  • Paper COE (Center of Excellence) to join our continuous manufacturing group Center of Excellence team that is part of the corporate central capability group.

What You Will Do

  • Cultural and professional development of direct reports under the PBM philosophy

  • Maintain knowledge of paper machine asset productivity, forecast demand and gaps to business targets. Distill this information into actionable insights that sets priorities for direct reports

  • Ensure direct reports demonstrate discipline in how they engage with facilities to optimize support and minimize opportunity cost.

  • Heavily engage in daily direction setting and continuous knowledge sharing amongst the team members and support knowledge sharing/status updates to multiple central capability teams

  • Provide consistent resource management tactics and encourage team flexibility to ensure the SME resources are focused on the highest priority opportunities at the right time and in the form (remote vs onsite). Effectively leverage resources to achieve positive work/life balance for the SME team.

  • Maintain strong connection to Paper COE Director, manufacturing advancement leader, ACO and other central capability teams to coordinate on strategic and tactical opportunities for the business.

  • Leverage and encourage the growth of the knowledge networks among the facility paper makers and external SMEs. Understand and communicate the knowledge gaps within the team that need to be managed.

  • Escalation support and coordination to address facility strategic / technical concerns

  • Support strategic elements of capital execution, transformative initiatives, commercialization and learning and development with subject matter expertise resources as required

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing role(s) supporting paper making operations

  • 5+ years of management experience

  • Knowledge and expertise in one or more specific paper making equipment and process areas: drying systems, wet end operations, stock preparation, controls and winder/roll handling

  • Able to read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID's), layout drawings, and mechanical drawings

  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

  • Willing and able to travel up to 60% of the time

  • Willing and able to work in operating environments that include platforms and catwalks, elevated temperatures, and variable humidity levels

  • Willing and able to work occasional weekends, nights, and holidays when needed

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Pulp and Paper Science or Technical degree

  • Tissue manufacturing experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, communicate with, and mentor others in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience using PI ProcessBook or comparable data historian to identify opportunities

  • 5 or more years of experience in production or optimization role with ability to deliver results

  • Previous experience using Root Cause Analysis strategies

  • KT, 5 Why, etc.
  • Previous work experience in a technical design or service capacity related to paper making

We anticipate the salary range to be $150K - $180K
