Palliative Care Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner
The Palliative Care Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner performs history and physicals and initial consultations in facilities and community/home settings, supervised by an MD. Will work closely with other members of the interdisciplinary group, other treating physicians, and when applicable other health care staff.
The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner must be a graduate of a Master's Degree Nursing Program with Family or Adult Health ARNP and a current ARNP license in the State of Florida and/or the State of Alabama, depending on the assignment location. This position requires a minimum of one year experience preferably in oncology, gerontology, or general practice. Other significant healthcare experience may substitute for ARNP experience at the discretion of the SVP Medical Services. Must have strong interpersonal skills. Must possess a valid Florida or Alabama driver's license, depending on assignment, and current automobile insurance. Must possess current proof of CPR training.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Performs history & physical exams focused on relief of suffering which include the following areas: disease history, social & spiritual history, physical & psychological symptoms, physical exam, decision making capacity & review of living will, information sharing and identification of goals of therapy.
Works closely with the other members of the interdisciplinary group, when applicable, in the development, review and modification of comprehensive plans of care.
Works closely with the collaborating physicians to initiate & modify interventions to relieve patient suffering within established standards, guidelines and regulations as determined by Covenant Care and its subsidiaries, federal & state regulatory agents including but not limited to the State Board of Nursing.
Participates in patient/family conferences as requested.
Maintains & and establishes good working relationships with referring sources including but not limited to physicians, social workers, hospital & nursing homes.
Participates in the physician/nurse practitioner on-call schedule as requested.
Participates in hospice and palliative care training for employees, volunteers, physicians and others as requested.
Any such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Required to comply with all Covenant Hospice Policies, Procedures and Personnel Policies, including those specifically addressing disaster preparedness and response.
