Job Purpose

Production Operator I are responsible for maintaining the machines that stacks and packages the finished cases to be prepared to ship. Employees will be responsible for replacing the shrink wrap and slip sheets when supplies are low.

Production Operator I are also responsible for the hand stacking area when the machine is down or there is overflow. This area requires employees to stack boxes from the conveyor belt to the pallets then be taken away to the appropriate area. Finally, all employees are responsible for cleaning various stations of the factory during shut down/start up once a week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not limited to)

The performance of the duties outlined below must be carried out within the mission of the Company: to become the preferred supplier of fats & oils, shortening flakes, shortening chips, vegetable oil and soybean oil in the Food Industry. In pursuit of this mission, you will endeavor to provide superior product quality and superior customer service at a competitive price.

Safety & Environmental Performance

Identify high-risk safety/productivity issues and help to remedy them.

Support full plant wide compliance with safety rules to further our goal of 0 accidents and encouragement of reporting and correcting near misses.

Encourage employees to look for ways to improve safety and production processes.

Prevention and timely reporting of any environmental issues.

Adhere to GMP's and other work procedures as to assure product quality and consistency to our customers.

Prevent injuries by encouraging employees to work safely

Work Requirements

Shrink plastic wrap overall packaging of product onto a pallet

Replace shrink wrap, slip sheets and top sheet rolls of plastic

Physically grab the cases off of the conveyor belt and stack them on a pallet when a press is down or there is overflow in the plant.

Help with cleaning an maintenance when production is stopped and started on separate days if the week.

Cost Control

Reduce the amount of rework by participating in employee involvement, process improvement and adherence to process guidelines

Ensure work is completed to customers specifications

Contribute to the effort in controlling costs and minimizing waste in your daily work

Fix pallets that come off palletizer incorrectly (tape, label, etc)

Qualifications

High school diploma with some aptitude in machines and industrial knowledge.

Must be able to climb, bend and stoop, lift 50 lbs frequently and stand/walk for long periods of time. Able to multitask. Prior manufacturing experience desired (2 years).

Working Conditions

The job is performed in a manufacturing plant. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, heat, sparks, oil and smoke may occur.

Protective safety equipment is required including appropriate clothing, shoes, and goggles as needed. Activities include extended periods of standing and extensive work with various devices and heavy machinery.

Floors may be slick. Constant vibration from shaker table while packing boxes.

Hot and cold temperatures depending on the time of year. Exposure to the elements is necessary.

Physical Requirements

Lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs.

Occasional sitting during breaks

Constant standing and walking though out work station

Occasional climbing stairs and ladders during cleaning

Constant object handling, cases, pallets, pallet jack, pry bar, shrink wrap ad cleaning supplies
